to Mandolin or NOT to Mandolin

I caught the bug, what.........in 2006? Now some 4 years later, and at least that many Mandolins, I settled in with my Washburn Jethro Burns, and kept pluckin away. I'm not much closer now to perfection than I was in late 2006, but you'd think I SHOULD be.

There was this guy who really did a nice job on the mando, at my local Jam that I attended every month (been sorta away from that TOO, over the last 6 months), that I had asked to give me private lessons. THAT never materialized. I'd ask him if he would call me with some available hours options, (even gave him my business card a COUPLE of times, to ensure that he had my number), but that didn't happen.

I learned some........from folks from MusicMoose.org, who generated videos, and from "in person" learning at the Jams.........but I can't say I'm any closer to being a "Ricky Skaggs" today, than I was then. YouTube has been a WONDERFUL resource, for just about anything I want to learn, btw.

In fact, I found myself buying two solid-body electric guitars (Strat & Tele) lately, and diving headlong into the "Blues." (That's the great thing about music; you don't have to live only in one genré).

So those of you who know me, will at least know that I haven't died, and am still pluckin away at the strings. All KINDS of strings!

Soup it's good to hear from you. I'm glad you're still pluckin' away exploring different instruments and different music. Glad I'm not the only master of none but picker of all...

Treed: Ditto on seeing you again (so to speak). I like being diversified.

I wish I had the excuse that I play several instruments to use when my mando playing progresses so slowly...

I'm glad to see others persevering also.
